Writer supports building fund to support climate

How proud I am to be living in a community that values not only social planning but social action.

I sense that the scale of disruption due to climate change that is to come within the next five years will be much greater than we imagine.

We know that when climate events occur, they are felt most cruelly by our most vulnerable citizens. I feel that before this township suffers directly from climate emergencies, it will be impacted by folks seeking refuge from disasters outside our borders. We must be able to respond as a community to provide safe haven for outsiders seeking refuge.

I therefore would support a doubling of residential realty taxes within the next two years to fund a war chest for the Climate Action Committee to fulfil their mandate.
