Food rescued through Second Harvest program
Lorna May “rescued” the first donation of meat and bread from Sim Spry at Foodland on Friday through Second Harvest, a new program locally that reroutes unsold food still fit for consumption into the community via the Creemore Community Foodbank. The meat and baked goods are frozen and distributed to those in need. May said she has also received a separate donation of fresh vegetables, which has also been distributed. It is all part of a community effort tosee less food wasted, especially when there are people who need it. Any individuals or businesses with food to offer, including garden produce, or anyone in need of food is encourage to call Lorna May at 705-352-2759 or leave a message at the church, 705-466-2206.
