Flower show blooms

 In Letters, Opinion

Creemore Horticultural Society’s Summer Flower Shows have been an attraction for the whole community over the years. The July 22  show this year will again have many interesting entries including a Community Display which is open to anyone in the area.

The flower show committee has chosen a Pot-et-Fleur theme and although this may sound fancy, it is really just a pot with growing plants in their own pots or planted in the larger pot. Then cut flowers, in tubes of water, go into the same container. Add some moss, decorative wood, rocks and maybe some branches with flowers or fruit and that’s it. Does it look interesting, beautiful or eye-catching? Bring it to the Station on the Green on Friday, July 21 between 3 and 6 p.m where it will go on display and then by judged by our accredited Ontario Horticultural Association judge. The winner will receive a gift certificate from a Creemore merchant. If you don’t win, that’s okay because you will have helped to add to the excitement and beauty of our summer show, which is open to the public on July 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing your wonderful pot-et-fleur.

When getting your entry ready and you need help, suggestions or tubes to hold water for your cut flowers, please call 705-466-2315. We have enough supplies for everyone entering this special Community Display. Come and join in for some summer fun.
