Land acknowledgment signs installed on Ganaraska Hiking Trail

 In Community, Uncategorised

The Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association is installing signs along the trail acknowledging that it passes through traditional Indigenous territories. The association acknowledges that settlement was not conducted with the respectfor the natural environment that was characteristic of Indigenous people’s relationship with land, water, sky, flora and fauna. The local club chose to place three signs within the Mad River section of the trail: at the trail head near Angus, where it meets The Bruce Trail at Devil’s Glen, and at Carruthers Memorial Park in Avening.
