Plan to take part in Clearview’s Canada Day events

With Canada Day two weeks away, organizers of events in Clearview Township are encouraging people to decorate, donate and register.

The Creemore Firefighters Association has taken on the organization of the July 1 fireworks display and there is a raffle underway to raise funds. Tickets cost $10 each or three for $20, for a chance to win: First prize – Chilly Moose booze cooler; second prize – one of two Duntroon Highlands Golf foursome passes; third – Creemore Coyotes season’s passes for two.

Donations are also welcome by e-transfer and donation jars are located at Creemore Foodland and The Echo.

Hogback Road will be performing behind the arena from 8 p.m. the fireworks at dusk.

The firefighters are also hosting the three-on-three Ball Hockey Tournament from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, must register as a team, register by email at creemoreffa@gmail.com.

Kids of all ages are invited to decorate their bicycles for the annual bike parade, which starts at Mad River Park at 1 p.m.

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Legion, where the bar inside will be open and there will be family style games inside the Legion after the bike parade.

Leading up to Canada Day, businesses in Clearview Township are invited to decorate their windows, offices, vehicles, or encourage staff to get dressed in their Canadian best and take part in the Clearview Chamber of Commerce Best-Dressed Contest. In Stayner, the Central Ontario ATV Club is organizing the Canada Day Parade, which starts at the arena at 10:30 a.m. and ends at the Gazebo at Station Park. Floats can register at www.discoverclearview.ca.

The Stayner Legion will be offering a barbecue and live music in the afternoon.
