Mega homes won’t solve housing crisis
Editor:
Once again the Doug Ford steam roller is at work. The rural community of Singhampton, located in Grey Highlands, two hours north of the GTA, is having a 37-unit mega home subdivision proposed in our pastoral rural community and is pursuant to a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO), which will preempt the opportunity for any objection.
These mansions are already slated to sell for well over a million dollars, so the notion of building affordable homes is a moot point.
This proposal is the dichotomy of smart growth. This plan is in the middle of farm country and the new development will be a car-oriented community as the nearest large urban centre is 40 minutes away.
Does this make any sense?
Richard Bino,
Singhampton.
