Not too early to plan for Christmas giving

The Christmas season is fast approaching at the Clearview Stayner Food Bank. There are 85 families registered, which includes 107 children. Parents are struggling to afford the high cost of day-to-day living and many can’t imagine how they will make a Christmas for their kids. So this year the food bank will be purchasing gift cards for kids over 12 years old and gifts for infants and children up to age 11. If you would like to help us achieve this, donations of cash or Walmart gift cards would be much appreciated.

For many years the Stayner Lions Club has donated the Christmas hampers. Tim and Jen Meijs of New Lowell have provided all the turkeys and hams. Rick and Jan Bernie of Nottawa have donated the gift cards for the older kids. I would like to thank them and everyone who supports the food bank with donations all year long. You make it possible to keep our shelves full and allow us to purchase extras like hamburger, eggs, bread, milk and fresh produce.

My wish this Christmas is that one day there won’t be a need for food banks. Until then, I am very grateful for each and every person who makes it possible to keep the doors of our food bank open.

I start planning for Christmas in August! So Merry Christmas and many blessings.

Pam Royal,

Clearview Stayner Food Bank co-coordinator

Stayner.
