Traffic stop leads to numerous charges including two passengers held for bail

On Friday, April 18, 2025, just after 8 a.m., a member of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hickory and Third Street in the Town of Collingwood after occupants of the motor vehicle were observed not wearing seatbelts.

Open alcohol was observed within the motor vehicle.

A 29-year-old female from Mulmur was charged with having liquor in an open container in unauthorized place, and their passenger failing to properly wear a seatbelt.

A male passenger was identified and found to have an existing warrant with Toronto Police Service.

The 41-year-old male from North York was arrested and transferred into the custody of Toronto Police where he was held for bail.

The front male passenger provided false identification for police. He was arrested and through investigation found to be in breach of a release order.

A 34-year-old male from Stayner was transported to the Collingwood OPP Detachment, where he was held pending a bail hearing to answer to the following charges: Failing to comply with release order, other than to attend court; obstructing a peace officer; Passenger failing to identify self; and passenger failing to wear a seatbelt properly.
