Preparations underway for Queen Vic’s visit

 In Community

The Creemore Log Cabin Board volunteers were hard at work as they started preparations for the upcoming visit by “Queen Victoria” to Creemore on Saturday, May 17, commencing at 10
a.m. The Queen is expected to arrive at the Creemore Log Cabin by horse-drawn carriage in order to officially open this historical heritage site in Clearview Township for the start of the 2025 summer tourist season.

To freshen the site for this special event, Councillor Robert McArthur, Don Smith and Paul Vorstermans (above, from left) successfully extended the pathway to the road

for easy access. The herb garden will be undergoing a major renovation to bring it back to being fruitful. Plans for the arbour in My Grandmother’s Garden involve a fresh coat of paint.

Please consider this your invitation to “meet’n’greet” this historical queen, learn a little about local history from the 1880s, and explore the village by “royal” carriage ride after the queen takes up residence in the cabin for this holiday morning. Next door in the Creemore Branch of the Clearview Public Library, there will complimentary tea and refreshments, history displays, family crafts and photo opportunities with the Crown Jewels from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
