Creemore Nature Preserve opens
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has re-opened the Creemore Nature Preserve, following the completion of forest management activities.
As part of NCC’s ongoing stewardship and restoration of the property, the site’s unnatural, monoculture coniferous plantations were thinned to allow for a more biologically diverse, healthy, and native deciduous forest to regenerate over time.
The property was also impacted by the March 2025 ice storm. Staff has been working to clear trails of fallen and hazardous trees.
NCC is pleased to welcome the community back to the Creemore Nature Preserve to enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and nature appreciation in this beloved community forest. Visitors are reminded to stay on the designated trails and to ensure dogs are leashed and pet waste is properly disposed of.
Logging activities on other non- NCC lands in the area may continue throughout the coming months. All visitors are encouraged to exercise caution near work areas.
