Shriners mark hospital’s 100th anniversary
Manito Shrine Club held its annual family night Sept. 4 when it welcomed two guest speakers in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Shriners’ Hospital for Children Canada in Montreal, Caressa Brown, a local Shriners kid, and Mike Laceby, Secretary for the Board of Governors for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The club made two cheque presentations at the event: $5,000 to the hospital in Montreal and $50,000 to the transportation fund at Rameses head office which is used to help a Shrine kids and their family members to get to Montreal, and currently supports three local children. The club has donated more than $100,000 so far this year.
