Firefighters going door-to-door during Fire Prevention Week
Clearview Fire and Emergency Services will conduct their annual Alarms for Life Campaign during Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 5-11. This year’s theme “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” aims to educate on how important it is to buy safety-certified batteries, charge them according to manufacturers’ instructions, and recycle them at a safe recycling location.
Uniformed Clearview firefighters will be going door-to-door in certain areas to speak with residents about smoke and carbon monoxide alarm requirements and lithium-ion battery safety. Residents will also be offered a voluntary inspection of in-home alarm systems as a bonus if they would like.
After prevention, maintaining working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home and outside all sleeping areas is one of the best ways to ensure fire safety at home and keep your loved ones and valued possessions safe.
