Humane Society’s Holiday Giving Season underway
The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) has kicked off its Holiday Giving Season, with donations to the organization matched now through Nov. 24, and multiple other ways for the community to support pets through gifts of compassion.
At the GTHS, each day begins with small acts of care such as a warm meal, a quiet place to rest, and a volunteer offering gentle reassurance to a frightened pet. Each day also brings moments that ask the community to help the organization care for those who need it most — an animal in urgent need of medical support, a family trying to keep their pet healthy, or a senior whose closest companion is their cat or dog.
“These moments are where every story of hope begins, and they begin with you,” said Karen Marsh, executive director of the GTHS. “As a community, we have shown time and again that compassion has the power to change lives. Every time someone donates, adopts, shops at Treasure Tails, or becomes a PAW Monthly Donor, they help write a story of comfort, care, healing, and hope. And that is what this season is about.”
With the GTHS Holiday Giving Season underway, all donations made until Nov. 24 will be matched, up to $10,000, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.
“With matching gifts, one moment of care becomes two,” Marsh said. “A warm bed becomes two. A meal becomes two. A lifesaving treatment becomes two. The impact is immediate and deeply felt.”
This year, more pets and people across South Georgian Bay are relying on the GTHS for support. The organization continues to see: Increased requests for pet intake and rehoming support; Growing demand for accessible community veterinary care; and Rising costs to provide daily animal care and medical treatment.
Ways to Support the GTHS this Holiday Season:
GTHS will hold a Holiday Open House on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. | GTHS Animal Centre
Proudly sponsored by Dean’s Carpet One, the GTHS Holiday Open House is a chance to come together, step inside the Animal Centre, and experience the work the community’s support makes possible. Guests are invited to tour behind the scenes, meet some of the animals currently in care, and connect with the volunteer and staff team, while enjoying a festive atmosphere filled with food, drinks, holiday shopping, and fun prizes.
Those who wish to support the GTHS will have an opportunity to make a monetary donation or contribute supplies for the pets in GTHS care at the event.
