Treasure Tails thrift store seeks donations

As many households begin to declutter after the holidays, the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s Treasure Tails thrift store is reminding the community that this time of year plays an important role in supporting local animals in need.

Located in downtown Collingwood, Treasure Tails is a long-standing community thrift store whose proceeds all directly support the day-to-day operations of the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS). Donations of gently used items to the store help keep shelves stocked and ensure Treasure Tails can continue generating essential funding for animal care.

“January is a natural time for people to take stock, clear space, and pass along items they no longer need,” said Sue LaJambe, manager of Treasure Tails. “Donations such as furniture, home décor, women’s clothing, jewelry, kitchenware, books, and pet items are especially helpful right now. When our shelves are full, we’re able to support the ongoing care of pets at the GTHS, from food and shelter, to medical treatment and recovery.”

Located at 186 Hurontario St., Treasure Tails is open seven days a week and is supported by more than 40 dedicated volunteers and a generous community of donors. The store offers a wide range of affordable second-hand items, with every purchase staying local to help animals across the region.

“As a community-supported store, donations are what allow us to do what we do,” added LaJambe. “This is a perfect time to donate, and a meaningful way to help local pets while giving pre-loved items a second life.”

Community members are encouraged to review donation guidelines before arranging a drop-off. Donations can be arranged by appointment by calling 705-293-3233, with additional details available at gths.ca/about-treasure-tails.
