Canadian Ski Patrol hosts first aid competition at Highlands Nordic
The Canadian Ski Patrol hosted a first aid skills competition at Highlands Nordic on Feb. 22.
The President’s Cup First Aid Competition showcases the talent of volunteer ski patrollers from resorts across Central Zone, a region encompassing Toronto, Barrie, Collingwood and surrounding areas.
Competitors are challenged to complete a series of skill, teamwork, and speed testing simulations inspired by real, and sometimes, life-threatening scenarios.
“Volunteer patrol is always a ‘team sport’, but the scenarios being tested at President’s Cup demand extraordinary problem solving and precision under pressure. Every team that competes today represent the best of the best,” said Matthew Werrell, Canadian Ski Patrol central zone president.
The winning team will receive a free trip to Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna B.C. to represent Ontario at the Canadian Ski Patrol, National First Aid competition in March.
