Condo project would complement village

Editor:

I was unable to attend the May 27 public meeting pertaining to 26-OPA-08 and 26-ZBA-05 (7582 County Road 9). (Re: Residents oppose condo development, The Creemore Echo, May 29, p. 1)

I have now had an opportunity to walk part of the site and all of the neighbourhood.

The proposed low and medium density residential fits the neighborhood very well and will complement the village of Creemore.

There is very limited housing choice available in Creemore at this time.

Not all want to live in a large building housing multiple housing units similar to The Brix.

The public have commented that this development is “really about making money”.

I would point out that each existing home occupied by each participant at the public meeting was also “really about making money.”

A developer/builder will not build a home unless there is a profit, real or perceived (yes, there are times when money is lost).

I would also point out that a condo is a type of home ownership and that a condo can be a person’s desired principal residence.

I support the proposed development.

Ben Lansink,
Creemore.
