Small Halls Festival gets provincial funding
The Small Halls Festival has been awarded a $38,700 in provincial grant money from Celebrate Ontario.
“On behalf of Clearview Township, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Honourable Michael Coteau, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport for the provincial recognition and financial support of the festival,” said Mayor Christopher Vanderkruys. “The Small Halls Festival plays an important role within promoting tourism and preserving community heritage throughout the Township”.
Clearview township’s Community, Culture and Recreation Coordinator Shane Sargant explained that the Celebrate Ontario funds will be used to “enhance the quality and variety of entertainment and to also increase the festivals recognition and awareness throughout the province.”
Heading into its third year, the Small Halls Festival has grown into one of Clearview Township’s signature events. Last year’s festival featured over 70 events and many sold-out audiences.
On April 11, Sargant (centre) formally presented the achievement award from Festivals and Events Ontario to the mayor (right) and festival committee chair Doug Measures.
Small Halls Festival won Best Promotional Campaign in the $100,000-$500,000 category.
The year prior, the event won Best New Festival or Event in the $100,000-$500,000 budget category.
In 2016, there is also $50,000 allocated to the festival in the Clearview Township budget.
