Youth made fire chief for a day

As part of Fire Prevention Week in Clearview Township, two youth spent the day as acting fire chiefs Oct. 12. The lucky students were Bently Green from Byng Public School and Darcie Head from Nottawa Public School, both in Grade 2. Clearview Elementary School students JK to Grade 4 were eligible to win the contest by colouring contest sheets, promoting the review of smoke alarms and home escape plans. Contest winners were drawn randomly from all entries. The winners were picked up from home in a fire truck and sworn into office by the mayor.
