Wow. What a ride!
This past year has been gawd awful. There’s no sense in mincing words. We have missed out on so many things – events, socializing and something as simple as seeing people’s smiles – but we are still here and we have you all to thank for that.
We are wrapping up our annual subscription drive and we have to take a moment to say that the support of the community is without a doubt the only thing that guaranteed Creemore would emerge from a global pandemic with its independent newspaper in tact.
We are honoured to be a source for local news and information and a place to share views. This newspaper has been a platform for some interesting conversations over the past year when people couldn’t attend a public meeting or even a dinner party, they could get a sense of how their neighbours felt about the issues at hand from those who braved to write a letter to the editor.
But there are so many ways that people support this little rag on and off the pages and we are sincerely grateful to you all.
We are just so chuffed to see how the community has rallied together during this whole ordeal we like to refer to as a “this difficult time,” by getting take-out and shopping curbside when necessary and flocking to patios and stores when they are open. It hasn’t been easy but it hasn’t been as hard as it could have been and we have been spared some of the hardships that have been felt elsewhere.
We think it’s fair to say that this newspaper helped connect the community at a time when everyone was sheltering at home and that we are better off for having a vehicle for local news and information.
We have had the most successful subscription campaign to date. Thank you to everyone who gave and to those who gave a little extra, whether they are a booster, champion or patron.
