David Brown and Sue A Miller at upcoming Gallery Lagom exhibit
Transformation, an upcoming exhibition at Gallery Lagom features Canadian artists David Brown and Sue A. Miller.
Brown’s sculptural encaustic forms and monotypes fold and shift like geological formations, evoking both the power and fragility of nature’s structures.
Brown, a Toronto based award-winning artist with over 30 years in the global art and design industry, brings his mastery of abstract encaustic paintings, monotypes, and sculptures to the exhibition. Brown’s work delves into the intersection of the human body and the landscape, using wax, and mono printing to construct a multi-layered sensory experience. His encaustic sculptures investigate the parallels between terrain and the human form, inviting reflection on the continuous flux of both the built environment and the body.
Miller’s atmospheric landscapes dissolve into abstraction, creating an immersive experience that reflects the complexities of the natural world.
Miller is a distinguished artist who divides her time between Creemore and Perry’s Cove, Newfoundland. Her decades long exploration of the natural world is deeply rooted in her upbringing in rural Ontario, where the forests, wetlands, and waterways ignited her creative passion. An oil painter by trade, Miller’s work oscillates between abstraction and reality, creating an intimate connection between the viewer and the landscapes she evokes. Her exploration of Mylar and Yupo collage, along with multi-media installations, represents a new phase in her creative evolution.
Transformation continues until May 5 and there will be an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28.
Gallery Lagom is located at 178 Mill St. in Creemore. The gallery is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
