Coffee sales go to shed fundraiser

 In Community

The Creemore Farmers’ and Craft Market is increasing its fundraising efforts this year for much needed storage space.

As a result, all proceeds from the market’s coffee booth will be going toward the purchase of a shed to store tents and other market equipment.

A new shed is expected to cost up to $5,000.

At the coffee booth, a new Creemore Farmers’ Market blend, a mix of African and high mountain Peruvian bean, by Creemore Coffee Company will be sold by the 400 gram bag for $22, with $5 going to fundraising.

Community groups that used to man the coffee booth will now be offered a free stall to promote their organization and sell whatever they wish to raise funds.

Board chair Shawn Bell said the market has been growing over the past three years, averaging more than 30 vendors last year and more expected this summer.

With growth comes more equipment, which is currently stored in two locations and needs to be amalgamated in a larger space.

Potential vendors uncertain about whether or not the Creemore Farmers’ and Craft Market would be profitable for them are welcome to a one-week trial market, for which the market will provide a tent.
