Copper Kettle brews good vibes
Creemore’s biggest street party of the year, hosted by Creemore Springs Brewery, promises a thirst quenching day of music, games, food and fun.
Copper Kettle Festival, on August 23, is in celebration of the brewery’s 38th birthday. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a pre-1987 car show and two markets – a makers’ market on Caroline Street and the Creemore Farmers’ and Craft Market, which will have extended hours to 3 p.m., will be set up at Creemore Village Green.
The Beinn Gorm Highlanders Pipe and Drum Band will kick-off the musical line-up at 11 a.m., parading down Mill Street to the main stage for the opening of the beer garden and the start of the cask competition, a fun challenge for Creemore Springs brewers and packaging team members who compete to see which team has created the best unique cask-brewed beer. The tapping of the kegs will take place at 11 a.m. and beer token holders will have a chance to try the brews and vote on their favourites. The winner will be announced at 4 p.m.
In addition to children’s activities and brewery tours, there will be free live music on the main stage beginning with Danielle Beaudin at noon, followed by Ten Minute Detour at 1:15 p.m., My Son the Hurricane at 2:45 p.m. and Born in the Eighties at 4:15 p.m.
Organizer Heather Harding said the idea is to build the energy throughout the afternoon leading up to a high- energy performance by My Son the Hurricane – “a multi-horn, multi-drum, multi-singer brass funk beast from Niagara.” The 12-piece band is doing more than 70 shows in Canada, the U.S. and Europe in 2025 with its new lead singer Sarah Faz.
“Then we’ll keep the party going with Born in the Eighties,” said Harding of the engaging cover band returning to Copper Kettle Festival for the third time. “They’ll get everyone dancing. It will be one big sing-a-long.”
Harding said the goal is to have something for everyone – from axe- throwing to street games and children’s activities facilitated by darci-que and Imaginarium Adventures in Art.
The food court will be open near the brewery and some local restaurants will be setting up food booths on Mill Street.
On the Creemore Village Green stage, there will be live music by Kailey Jane at 10 a.m. and the Sherri Jackson Band will play at 1 p.m.
