Theatre Collingwood launches Elevate Donorship Drive with Bravo Bear

 In Community

Theatre Collingwood has launched its Elevate Donorship Drive, a $50,000-campaign to support year- round live theatre, the Porchside Festival, and expanding education programs for all ages.

Leading the charge is a charming new fundraiser: limited edition Bravo Bears.

With only 50 available, each bear represents a step forward in helping Theatre Collingwood grow its impact in South Georgian Bay. Generously donated by Dave Finley of Talbot Promo, the Bravo Bears cost $20 each.

With an annual budget of nearly $300,000, only about half is covered by ticket sales. The remainder must come from fundraising and grants. Community support bridges this gap, sustains high-quality programming, and fuels new initiatives like the Teen Drama Intensive and the Young

Creatives after-school program, where local artists mentor the next generation of performers.

“We’ve already raised nearly $29,000 in individual donations this year, and selling every Bravo Bear will bring us another $1,000 closer to our $50,000 goal,” said Erica Angus, Executive Director of Theatre Collingwood. “These bears send a powerful message: supporting the arts can start with something small, while inspiring young people to discover the magic of live theatre.”

Theatre Collingwood has been a cultural pillar in the community since 1984, evolving from a grassroots group of volunteers into a major arts organization known for its live theatre programming, outdoor summer festival, youth drama camps, seniors’ workshops, and the creation of original productions. Its impact spans generations and strengthens Collingwood’s cultural identity while contributing significantly to local tourism.

The Elevate Donorship Drive invites individuals, families, and businesses to support in ways that are meaningful to them – through one-time donations, monthly gifts, or corporate sponsorships. Every contribution helps expand programming, create employment for professional artists, and offer life-changing arts education to local youth. Donors enjoy exclusive benefits including waived ticket fees, reserved seating, behind-the-scenes access, and special recognition.

“As chair of the board, I’ve seen how Theatre Collingwood brings people together and uplifts our community,” said Marie Rounding. “This campaign is about securing the future of the arts in Collingwood for our kids, our seniors, and everyone in between.”

“The Bravo Bears are a small but mighty symbol of what we can achieve together,” said Angus. “Whether it’s through a donation, a sponsorship, or by hugging one of these special bears, we invite everyone to be part of this next chapter.”
