Event supports accessible pet adoptions throughout December

Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) has launched its annual Home for the Holidays adoption event.

“With the holiday season upon us, we know that many families are looking to open their homes and hearts,” said Karen Marsh, executive director of the GTHS. “This event is designed to make adoption accessible while ensuring every pet receives the compassion, care, and the thoughtful matchmaking they deserve. Our team is ready to help connect people with pets who will bring joy, comfort, and companionship into their lives.”

For the first time, the promotion includes dogs.

Throughout December, adoption fees are:

  • Adult cats, $100
  • Kittens, $140
  • Adult dogs, $100 off the adoption fee
  • Signature pets – Overlooked pets (longer than average length of stay), special paws (medical condition or quite elderly) or Underdogs (animals experiencing behavioural challenges) – by donation

To adopt during the Home for the Holidays event go to gths.ca and navigate to the Animals for Adoption page. Browse available cats and dogs to learn more about their personalities and needs. Then visit the GTHS Animal Centre any day between noon and 4 p.m. throughout December to meet the animals and complete an adoption application with the help of an adoption counsellor.
