Healthcare Expo connects community to local providers
Navigating the healthcare system can be challenging. The South Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team and their Patient, Family and Caregiver advisors, understand these challenges and are working to find unique solutions for the residents of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, and the Blue Mountains.
The most recent solution is a local Healthcare Expo to connect community members directly to local healthcare organizations at an in-person drop- in event on April 11.
“We’re fortunate to have so many incredible healthcare organizations in our community, but it’s not always easy for people to know what supports are out there or where to start,” said Lauren Cassell, co- chair of the South Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team patient family and caregiver advisory council. “Our hope with this Healthcare Expo is to bring everyone together in one welcoming space, so community members can meet providers face-to-face, discover new resources, and feel confident about where to turn when they need help”
The South Georgian Bay Healthcare Expo will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Collingwood Public Library in the upstairs community rooms. Community members are encouraged to drop-in and connect with over 15 local healthcare organizations to find new resources, ask questions, and provide feedback. The Expo will highlight a wide variety of resources for all ages including, navigation, adult and youth mental health, caregiver supports, nutrition classes, fitness groups, social clubs, long-term care, diabetes care, healthy aging support, palliative care, financial support, cancer support, pregnancy and infant loss, and more.
