Remembrance Day 2020

 In Community

Remembrance Day was very different this year, but no less poignant, as Royal Canadian Legion Branch 397 organized a full service at the Creemore Cenotaph Wednesday, albeit for a much smaller audience. Masked veterans stood at attention while the traditional ceremony was observed. Wreath-bearers included Norm Nordstrom for the Government of Canada, Doug Mills for the Government of Ontario, Silver Cross Mother Carol Percy, Jim Henderson for the local Legion branch, and Dee Hanson for the branch Ladies Auxiliary. Colour party commander Helen Martin (above, right) lowered the flag to half staff and Tim Armour (below, right) plays the bagpipes. The ceremony took place with a backdrop of flags displayed by Lee Anning. Due to the pandemic, the public was not able to attend an extended wreath-laying held annually at the Legion (pictured below).
