Cardboard Castles open second store in Orangeville

Cardboard Castles Children’s Emporium has opened a second store in Orangeville.

For 10 years, the Creemore location has been offering a selection of specialty toys, different from the chain toy stores.

“I think it was always in the back of my head that I wanted a second location,” said owner Laurie Copeland.

She said she already had a lot of customers from the Orangeville area, where there is no toy store. She had her eye on the new location at 61 Broadway, so when it became available she seized the opportunity.

It is still about good old-fashioned play with back to basics toys, said Copeland. She steers clear of electronics and licensed products.

The new store is smaller but has many of the same products and customers will be able to order merchandise between stores.

“We haven’t done anything differently, we are playing it by ear to see what Orangeville wants,” said Copeland.

She and husband Corey Finkelstein are splitting their time between the two locations and have no intention to leave Creemore.

Copeland’s mom is helping in the store and her dad worked to get the store ready to open.

“Without all of the help from family and friends, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Copeland.
