Clearview ATV route altered

There will be a minor change to the township’s approved ATV route, bringing riders through New Lowell, via Switzer Street and Hogback Road.

“In discussions with COATV (Central Ontario All Terrain Vehicle) Club we have noted that the route from Concession 7 Sunnidale through to the Sunnidale Tosorontio Town Line runs very close to some residents and through several streams,” reported Clearview’s general manager of transportation and drainage Gerry LeMay. “Revision of the route for the COATV Club will allow better access to areas where ATVs are much better suited to travel. The revision will allow for a safe and clear path for the ATVs to ride in order to access the Simcoe County Forests in Clearview Township.”

Councillor Kevin Elwood opposed the change saying, “We tried to route it away from communities and now we are bringing ATVs into New Lowell.”

Councillor Deborah Bronée said it will be good because it will bring riders who are coming into town for a slice of pizza into compliance.

“I don’t think you’ll get many complaints from New Lowell,” she said.
