Community support speaks volumes
We are winding up our annual subscription drive this week and we would like to take the opportunity to once again thank everyone who helps to keep this newspaper going.
Like one reader said, it’s the little newspaper that could. It has survived, so far, Facebook and the shuttering of so many community newspapers in surrounding areas and across the country.
We operate in the tradition of the newspapers that have served this community for more than 130 years.
We don’t set type manually or use paste up boards to assemble the newspaper anymore but we do work in the same building where The Creemore Star was produced. If you looked at our subscription drive ad in weeks past, you may have noticed the photo is taken inside the same building, from the perspective of our front counter.
A lot of care and effort has been taken to ensure that Creemore has its little newspaper that could, and we don’t take that lightly.
There may not always be a lot going on but we are here to spread the word whenever needed. More often though, there is a lot going on. This is a very vibrant little community and we hope to be a part of maintaining that energy.
We have received several notes of encouragement from readers, sometimes tucked into envelopes with their subscription renewal, and it really is appreciated. It’s so nice to hear from people who are long-time readers and use the paper to stay connected to the community from afar, from new readers and everyone in between.
Please continue to engage with the newspaper. Send us feedback, notice of events, news tips, old photos and letters-to-the-editor. This paper is only as relevant as the community makes it, so we rely on you as much as you rely on us.
