Lisle church, organist mark anniversaries

St. James Anglican Church organist Bert Schaly is marking his 60th anniversary as an organist, 13 of those years at the Lisle church.

The celebration coincides with the 130th anniversary of the church itself. The festivities take place this Sunday, Oct. 2.

Before playing in Lisle, Schaly was organist for the First Christian Reformed Church in Barrie for 47 years. The self-taught organist started playing when he was 16 years old.

The anniversary service, with Bishop Peter Fenty, starts at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be served. All are welcome.
