Sign obstructs landmark

Editor:

CRASS – lacking sensitivity, refinement, or intelligence.

That’s a one-word description for the new signage “designed” by the Township of Clearview now being sited to ruin the many “photo ops” around Creemore!

The non-governmental Purple Hills Arts and Heritage Society has already placed well written, non-intrusive informative plaques at many locations around Creemore providing visitors and residents with in-depth information about the history of what was once our “idyllic” village, each one sensitively sized and sighted so that they augment rather than “hijack” the focus of each location.

Clearview Township is now adding oversized ugly “name tags” in front of some of our “photo ops” in order to justify the dream of the current administration to make Clearview a tourist trap by placing their oversized, poorly located, CRASS, failed branding result smack dab in front of everything!

What’s next, neon signs?

Why not invest our tax dollars in completing the infrastructure (sidewalks around our parks and along the roads used by speeders) before creating more “eyesores” and leave the volunteers from the Purple Hills to do what they do far, far better than our local government.

Peter Lomath,

Creemore.

Editor’s note: The sign is the result of a township wide branding and sign design project but The Creemore Log Cabin volunteers had the above sign made and chose its location.
