Spencer Harrison wins 4H bursary

 In Community

Spencer Harrison was the winner of this year’s Stayner and Community Agricultural Society 4-H Bursary in the amount of $750.

The bursary was set up in 2007, funded by the residual monies on deposit when the Society made the decision to end the Stayner Fall Fair. It was decided that the funds should stay within the agricultural community that had been the focus of the fair for some 50 years and this could be accomplished by partnering with Clearview 4-H Clubs to help further the post-secondary education of their members.

The 4-H Club selects the annual winner of the bursary in the amount of $500, increased by $250 for winners enrolled in agricultural related fields of study. Harrison, who is attending the University of Guelph, is seen here receiving his award from Bob Charlton, the bursary administrator, at the 4-H Club’s recent annual awards banquet.
