Team Maizis makes their mark

Six students from Maizis Martial Arts Academy travelled to Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, Feb. 23 to compete in the Ontario Provincial Open Martial Arts Championships.

Addie Cornell placed in the top eight for 9/10 intermediate kata. Paige Cornell placed in the top eight for 11/12 intermediate kata and won Silver in the 11/12 intermediate kumite division. 

Quinn Matchett was a finalist in the 7/8 novice kata division and won Gold in the 7/8 kumite division. 

Camden Mozetti won Silver in the 11/12 novice kata division and Bronze in the 11/12 novice kumite division. Vienna Mozetti was in the top eight for 7/8 novice kata. Angus Vermilyea won Silver in the 11/12 novice kumite division.

“All of these athletes were first time competitors. I am so proud of them for giving it their all. I expect to see great things of them in future competitions.” says coach Soke Michelle Maizis.
