Haircut helps cancer victims twofold

 In News

A spring haircut will result in two good deeds if all goes according to plan for Crystal Cousins and her daughter Megan.

As Megan prepares to cut off her long blond ponytail, she and her mother are inviting people to make donations to a local woman who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Since learning that a fellow employee at Leisureworld Creedan Valley nursing home in Creemore has an aggressive form of cancer in the brain, kidneys and lungs, staff members have been doing things to raise a bit of money to pay for a getaway of some kind with her family.

“Even if we can pay for a nice dinner or something, depending on how much money we collect,” said Crystal. “We appreciate any donations.”

Megan is parting with 12 inches of her hair, which she will donate to Angel Hair for Kids, an organization that provides wigs to people who have lost their hair due to medical conditions.

Megan, a Grade 3 student at New Lowell Central School, will have her hair cut at Creedan Valley on April 14, one day after her ninth birthday.

Crystal is inviting individuals and businesses to make donations.

To donate, call Crystal Cousins at 705-309-9876 or e-mail the money to her at got3bratz@hotmail.com.
