Township to survey residents about traffic concerns

Clearview Council has directed staff to embark on a township-wide survey about traffic calming.

This decision extended the request for a Creemore-wide survey made last Monday by Doug Mills on behalf of Creemore residents concerned about street safety within the village.

Councillor Thom Paterson tabled a motion supporting the request and accepted a friendly amendment from Councillor Robert Walker that all Clearview residents to be involved in the survey. Walker stated staff time as his first concern and second, his belief that there will be more requests from community groups for traffic control, so a broader plan is needed. The survey and an integrated report are to brought forth for discussion in October.

Staff has been directed to work together with a resident committee to create and implement the survey.

Mills and his group first visited the council chambers in June. At that time council directed staff to create a report to address the bid for changes to stop signs and a reduced speed limit. The directive was held by the Mayor Chris Vanderkruys when the group decided to bring forward their request for help to gather more information.
