Police investigating residential break-ins in Mulmur

 In News

Dufferin OPP responded to numerous residential break-ins this month in Mulmur Township.

The suspects are entering homes through unlocked doors, basement windows and once inside stealing cash and jewellery.

Neighbours can band together and form a Neighbourhood or Community Watch to keep an eye on each other’s residences and immediately report suspicious activity to police.

Be advised that Const. Paul Nancekivell is a trained safeguard officer and can attend by appointment to speak to individual homeowners or small groups to offer low cost suggestions on how to better secure your home.

Police offer the following tips:

Who is your contact (key holder) for: alarms, thefts, weather damage or animal problems? Do you have their contact information numbers? Are they friends/neighbours?

Your insurance company may give you a deduction if you have one.

Secure your windows and doors – close window curtains or blinds.

Record serial numbers of anything of value left behind.

Consider installing motion sensor lights on exterior.

Consider installing security cameras and a burglar alarm.

Ensure doors entering residence are secured with dead bolt locks including the inside of garage doors.
