Membury, Jessie Eileen (nee: Lanning) Passed away at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, April 22nd 2020 at the age of 97.
Born in Abertrydwr, Wales on March 28th, 1923 to Thomas (1972) and Eileen (1976) Lanning. Jessie was the beloved wife of Roy C Membury (2004) for 59 years. Loving mother of Dawn Craven (Jim Richards) of Creemore, David (Cathy) Membury of Iron Bridge, Ken Membury of Kitchener, Valerie Verdone (Angelo) of Elmira and Roger Membury (Paula) of Langley, B.C.
Nana will be sadly missed by grandchildren Clarke Richards (Elaine Melrose), Marlee Craven (Angela Wilson), Connie Mills (Colin), Jessica Morgan (David), Aaron Membury (Cristine), Emily Membury (2003), Tracy Hill (Jeremy), Jeff Verdone (Kari Gamble), Thomas Membury (Lacey) and Sarah Membury (Kyle Dickie).
Nan/G-Nan will also be remembered with love by great-grandchildren Robert Tryon (Katherine Schmidt), Seth Tryon (1995) Selena Tryon (Trin Benninger), Johnathan Richards, Victoria Richards, Zachary Morgan, Ainsley Mills, Sophie Membury, Xavier Membury, Isabelle Membury, Olivia Verdone, Claire Verdone, Tristan Hill, Emmett Hawes, Grayson Hawes, Baby Membury and great, great granddaughter, Karmyn Benninger.
Jessie was pre-deceased by her brothers Bill Lanning (Irene) & Ken Lanning; sisters Myra Clarke, Betty Hopkins (Glynn) & Christine Lanning. Lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Yvonne Lanning.
Jessie was loved and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in England and Wales and especially by Justin Lanning (Amanda Duggan) Nathan & Abigail of Barrie and by her cousin Pat Martin (Bob) of Toronto.
She will be fondly remembered by special friends, Amy Verdone, Isabel Millar, Bonnie & Terry Ventresca, Jan & Cecil Omand, Norma Eggerton (Don) and friends from the K-W Navy Club.
Mom/Nana/G-Nan/Nan was devoted to her family, filling their lives with her hand-knitted sweaters, hand-made greeting cards and Welsh cakes. She was proud to be a Canadian War Bride and was always willing to share stories of her life in England during the war and her early years in Canada as a new bride. She loved to dance and was always available to celebrate special occasions – even if you had to make one up.
Mom/Nana/G-Nan/Nan is and always will have a very special place in all of our hearts and minds. Throughout her long and interesting life, anyone who has had the extreme pleasure of knowing her falls in love with her immediately and unconditionally.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
