McEvenue-Young, Margaret (Meg) Elizabeth – April 4, 1952 – August 11, 2023 – Margaret (Meg) passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 11, 2023.

Born and raised in London, Ontario, Meg was the beloved wife of Greg Young, cherished sibling of Sheilagh, George and Kelly McEvenue, dear sister-in-law of Robin Young, Julia Young and Esther Young (wife of the late Bruce Young), and adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, George McEvenue, mother, Mary Seitz, and sister, Mimi McEvenue Love.

Meg loved being a teacher and spent 33 years with the Toronto District School Board, first as an elementary school teacher and later as school principal at Indian Road, Hillcrest and Oriole Park schools. Meg was a force of nature, a source of joy to thousands of students under her watch, and to hundreds of friends who reveled in her sense of humour, her energy, her irreverence, her fierce intelligence – and her love of dancing to a Motown beat.

Meg and Greg were devoted to each other. In a marriage of over 40 years, they entertained friends and family, travelled the world, enjoyed life and good times. But Meg was often happiest just reading a book on the porch or enjoying her garden at Claverleigh. Any time spent with Meg was memorable. She was a joy to be with, greeting everyone with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who looked after her.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rosedale Golf Club, Monday, Sept. 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
