Paramedics launch food and toy drive

The County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Food and Toy Drive in support of individuals and families in need across Simcoe County returns for its 21st year.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items and gift cards (with the gift card value denoted) can be dropped off at one of the locations listed below.

Over the previous 20 years, the Food and Toy Drive has collected 104,215 toys, 50,394 lbs of food and more than $240,389 in monetary and gift card donations for families across Simcoe County.

“Every day, County of Simcoe Paramedic Services see the challenges that the rising cost of living in Canada is having on our community, which is why they have continued to take action and donate their time to help those in need each holiday season,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “We hope our residents continue to embrace the spirit of giving this holiday season, as now more than ever giving a little can truly help a lot.”

There is an outdoor drop box located at the emergency hub in Stayner, at 6993 Highway 26.

Toys for Tickets supports Simcoe County Paramedics Food and Toy Drive

Clearview Township is once again supporting the Simcoe County Paramedics Food and Toy Drive through the ‘Toys for Tickets’ initiative.

‘Toys for Tickets’ allows anyone who receives a parking ticket between Oct. 15 and Dec. 15 the option to pay the early fee as indicated on the ticket, or to submit a gift card or toy of equal or greater value as payment for the ticket. Residents can donate to pay for a parking ticket at the Administration Centre.

Simcoe County Paramedics are accepting financial donations, new unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items and gift cards (with the gift card value denoted). Parking tickets can be paid during regular business hours at the Administration Centre, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donation boxes are located at the Township Administration Centre (217 Gideon Street, Stayner) and Fire Administration Centre (6993 Highway 26, Stayner).

Firefighters’ Fill the Wagon

Creemore Firefighter’s Association presents the Fill the Wagon Food and Toy Drive in support of the Creemore Foodbank. Drop off donations between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1at the Creemore Village Green during the Light Up the Night festivities. Pre-bundled donation packages will be available for purchase at Creemore Foodland.

Toys For Tots kick off

Dufferin OPP, in partnership with the Salvation Army New Hope Community Church, kicks off Toys For Tots this weekend outside of the Orangeville Walmart. Officers will be collecting new, unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items, and gift cards in order to help those in need this holiday season. All donations collected will be distributed locally through the Salvation Army.

The campaign runs from Nov. 24 to Dec. 10. Officers will be collecting donations outside of Walmart at 95 First Street in Orangeville on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
