Questions welcome in advance of panel discussion
Editor:
With the winter wind howling outside, thoughts about gardening may not be top of mind, unless you are an avid gardener, or read Cecily Ross’ article in last week’s Echo.
As our township works on developing relevant policies, Clearview Sustainability Network (CSN) is hosting a timely event with an expert panel to discuss the pros and cons of naturalized and boulevard gardens. The goal is to understand how property bylaws and other related policies can best support local biodiversity and climate resilience.
Our hope is that CSN can work together with the township to ensure up-to-date policies and bylaws that support ecological and human health, follow the guidance of our Official Plan, and recognize the constitutional rights of residents.
Boulevards, Bylaws, Butterflies, and Birds will feature renowned gardening expert Lorraine Johnson, local resident and environmental scientist Brenna Lattimore, NVCA Healthy Waters Program Co- ordinator Shannon Stephens, Clearview Township’s Director of Planning and Building Amy Cann, and Director of Public Works Dan Perreault.
A question and answer period will follow. Everyone is invited to come to this event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 at Creemore’s Station on the Green. Snacks will be provided. Questions for the panelists can be sent in advance to clearviewsustainabilitynetwork@ gmail.com.
