Springwater wins Georgian Bay Reads

 In Community

On behalf of Clearview Public Library, our very own Beth Seaborne Harte valiantly defended Washington Black by Esi Edugyan in the literary fight of the year at this year’s Georgian Bay Reads event held at Wasaga Beach Public Library last Saturday night. Words were literally flying about the room in front of a sold-out crowd who watched the heated debate about which book deserved the top recommendation of “Best Canadian Fiction to Read during the Winter of 2025.”

Brian Adduono, representing Springwater Public Library, took home both the People’s Choice Award and the Georgian Bay Reads prizes as a result of his fierce defence of Estates Large and Small by Ray Robertson. All five books in this competition are available to borrow from any one of the three branches of CPL for your enjoyment.

Please mark your calendars for the 16th annual GBR to take place at the Elmvale Community Centre on Oct. 24, 2026.
