To Terra Nova Pub, with Love

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
Terra Nova Public House has closed. The pandemic’s lockdowns and restrictions forced so many restaurants to keep pivoting into too maddening a dervish for their owners to recover.
When I heard the Pub was closing, I made a reservation for every remaining week and got to salute Anna, Malcolm and their wonderful team over a series of dinners with Creemorians and long-time patrons all the way from Alliston to Collingwood.
Last Saturday, Scott Meredith dressed up in a tux, his wife Liz to the nines; and Hugh Russell and Doug Todgham gave moving farewell speeches.
Terra Nova Pub was a remarkable place. For many, it was a weekly pilgrimage. For Charlie Moses, it was religion. In Anna’s grace and through Malcolm’s magical dishes, we all got to enjoy a sense of communion. It was a place of solace and mirth –and a rarity of great fare at a fair price – so we deeply feel its loss. But an exciting chapter opens for Anna, who will be soaring to new heights in a different industry.
The Pub is being converted into a three-bedroom seasonal rental property. And Malcolm will be available for catering events.
Happily for us all, they remain in our community and I can assure you there’s a group of us already dreaming up fresh ways to re-engage in their graces with you all.
Cheers to Terra Nova!
Kavi Jappy,
Creemore.
