Historians search for veteran information

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:

The Second World War happened a long time ago. It began 86 years ago and peace was declared 80 years ago. Memories of the bombing, the suffering, the horrors and the deaths are fading from memory. Perhaps you are able to bring back some faded memories of that time, maybe from what you have heard, maybe from some family tree information.

Ellen Millar, from Simcoe County Archives, and I are searching for information about five service men who lost their lives in that conflict and whose names are on the Creemore cenotaph.

We have some information about Thomas Eggleton but more would be welcome.

Also we have information about Fraser Charles Weatherall but there is a note to say that the record is doubtful for Creemore. As Weatherall is a local name perhaps someone can tell us if he is local or not.

There is no information at all about John Baker, Harry Brown and Fraser Weatherup.

If you can help please send a message via The Creemore Echo to editor@creemore.com, and it will be forwarded to me.

Helen Blackburn,

Websterville.
