Wow! The Creemore Echo turns 25
Editor:
Congratulations to Sara and all The Echo staffers past and present for this amazing achievement. Also to the village of Creemore, which has always been a special place that both deserved and supported a newspaper.
I am proud to have been part of The Echo’s early days, and even prouder to witness its continuous growth and contribution to the area. What started as a four-page newsletter with a circulation of about 200, surrounded by established papers in all the neighbouring communities, has become what you see today, with the incredible circulation of 7,900. Meanwhile all those other papers are gone.
The Echo was founded on two guiding principles which remain to the present day. First was to cover and accurately report on all the local news, from council meetings to church suppers. The second was to be a community hub, promoting, supporting, and bringing together all things Creemore.
The Echo’s success is the direct result of the staff working very hard every week to deliver on those principles.
Once again, my heartiest congratulations and have a joyous 25th anniversary celebration.
Craig Simpson,
Former editor and publisher of The Creemore Echo.
