Dufferin OPP launch Project Safe Trade

 In Community

Dufferin OPP has launched Project Safe Trade to create a community safety zone at the detachment parking lot to facilitate online property transactions. The program supports the public by moving online transactions away from secluded parking lots, personal residences or other areas and bringing them to a public place.

The Project Safe Trade parking spot located in the visitor parking lot of the Orangeville Detachment is available at all times, with no appointment necessary.

The OPP does not monitor or mediate the premises or transactions.

Police urge online sellers and shoppers to heed the following advice: Meet in a busy public space; Bring a trusted friend of family member as a witness; Keep transactions during daylight hours; Do not erase emails, texts or voicemails between you and the buyer or seller.
