 In Obituaries

Don Turner  – December 26, 1945- April 26, 2022

At Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario on April 26th, 2022, in his 76th year.

Beloved husband of the late Islay Kathryn (McLeod). Much loved Dad of Kerri (Michael), Shane (Tom), and devoted grandpa to Malcolm Robinson.

Donnie had a personality that was larger than life which endeared him to many relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbours. He put his all into everything he did at home, at work and at play— including his lifelong dedication to minor league, adult and senior league baseball and hockey. He himself played these sports up until very recently.

He will be missed dearly by sister-in-law Halcyon, his many nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren.

Don was predeceased by his parents Ed and Lena, his sister Blanche, and his brothers-in-law Harold McArthur and Grant MacDonald.

A small-town, good-time country boy at heart, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donnie will be laid to rest with his high school sweetheart Islay at Lavender, Ontario.

Donations to the Sick Kids Foundation would be appreciated by the family. To honour his memory, be sure to grab a glove and ball or hockey stick and spend some time with the kids in the neighbourhood.

I had the pleasure of working alongside with Don at the Woolworth/Woolco Distribution Centre in Weston for many years, a great guy for sure, had many, many laughs together while in the warehouse & some great weekend fishing trips as well. You will be sadly missed Don but always remembered as a man you could count on for any reason.
