 In News

The Clearview Youth Centre is partnering with the Gilbert Centre to offer a new LGBTQ Youth Connection Program.
The Gilbert Centre provides social and support services to individuals and families from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) communities of Simcoe Muskoka. It also works to empower, promote health, and celebrate the lives of people living with and affected by HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI).
The LGBTQ Youth Connection is a drop-in social space for all Queer and Trans identified youth. The two-spirit community is always welcome as well. The goal of this group is to provide a relaxed place to get together and access resources and support on LGBTQ topics/issues, and most importantly for LGBTQ and questioning youth to connect. The LGBTQ Youth Connection is held on the second and fourth Monday of each month, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to this drop-in, the group holds special events for youth, such as picnics and movie nights, education presentations and guest speaker events, discussion groups about coping strategies, mental health, etc.
The program is open to LGBTQ+ and questioning youth in Simcoe Muskoka between the ages of 12 and 20. The group will be guided by the interests and imaginations of the youth involved and is facilitated by supportive adults. Eventually, youth will be trained to facilitate the group themselves.
Registration is not required.
The Clearview Youth Centre, is located at 7458 Highway 26, in Stayner.
