Affolters saw what Creemore needed, and delivered

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
I want to send congratulations and a well done to Henry and Christina Affolter on their retirement. My son and I haven’t lived in Creemore for 20 years, but we always do our best to stop by for breakfast and a hello. Even after all this time Henry will holler out, “001!” before we hug and that is because I was the first customer at his video store so very long ago.
Henry’s video store was like a miracle for us movie-starved Creemore folk in the 90s, and I remember squeezing up and down the narrow aisles of his first place on the main street, exchanging favourite movie titles with other customers. A huge thank you to you, Henry and Christina, for seeing what Creemore needed and acting on it, for your warm smiles, stories and laughter.
I also want to congratulate Georgi on her retirement. I worked with her at The Creemore Star in the early 90s. It was a crazy, busy place to work and I will always be grateful to everyone there that helped me hone my craft.
Melissa Campbell and Jamie Campbell Prager,
Guelph.
