Residents made the best of a bad situation

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
This winter I participated in, alongside most of my fellow neighbours, deciding what to do with the TD bank site.
Neighbours formed committees, countless hours were spent and resources were donated.
I think Creemore needs to pat itself on the back for the efforts spent here.
Any single issue for a town will have many opinions and can be emotional (windmills come to mind).
But what I saw was residents rally around a bad situation (TD leaving) and try to make the best of it.
Creemore had a similar experience, years back, when a group of visionaries dedicated much time and fundraised to build the Station on the Green to benefit the whole community. Can we imagine our town without it now?
Now this is finally happening again and I want to thank Stuart Lazier and Tony Arrell for starting the ball rolling and investing so much of their effort and resources. There is now a long list of people to also add to that thank-you list.
I hope we can use this opportunity to make positive change for our town to attract visitors and benefit the whole community. But most of all I hope all the neighbours that have been involved become inspired by this initiative for the future.
Brian Koturbash,
Lavender.
