 In News

Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home in Shelburne was today informed by Public Health that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

This staff member has not been onsite since first exhibiting symptoms and is currently isolating at home. Dufferin Oaks, a non-profit Long Term Care Home owned and operated by the County of Dufferin, is working closely with Public Health at this time to identify any resident or staff that may have been in close contact with this staff member. As a proactive approach and with the utmost of caution, the unit has been closed and all residents are self-isolating in their rooms. At this time, none of our residents have presented with symptoms and staff are continuing to diligently monitor them.

Personal protection equipment has been deployed to the unit as a proactive measure for staff use and further information will be shared as it becomes available to us.

Families of residents currently affected by this self-isolation are being contacted to let them know of these new measures and to provide support and answer questions.

Dufferin Oaks is following the guidance of the Wellington Dufferin Public Health on measures to be taken within the home. Safety of the residents and staff are at the forefront and we will endeavour to keep the public notified as we learn more information.
